Product Description

Evergreen conifer tree with a fast growth rate.  Pyramidal form with spreading, sweeping branches. May lose nice form when older.  Makes a good Christmas tree.

Zones:  2 - 7     Native to: Northern Europe, central Europe     Size: 40-80' tall by 25-30' wide

Needles:  color: glossy dark green     size: 0.5-1"  

Fruit:  color: light brown     size: 4-6"     type: cone     notes: Birds eat the seeds.

Bark & Wood:  color: red-brown     texture: small, flaky scales

Uses:  landscaping (specimen), hedge or screen, windbreak, bird habitat

Culture: Works well in large, open landscapes. Grows best in moist, acidic, well-drained, sandy soil but will tolerate slightly less-ideal conditions. Prefers humid climates and needs a lot of watering in its establishment period. Tolerates heat better than most spruces but needs a cold winter. Prune in early spring.
